I am excited to continue to work and learn with all of the students here at Henderson. We have some new experiences in store for this year that I think the students will find very enjoyable. I look forward to working with each of them as they develop musically, academically, and socially.
I have several goals for each of the students here at Henderson which we work on in every music class:
- To create a musical community: where students may come together to create and experience music within a positive, supportive, and constructive environment with their peers
- To help students become beatful: so that now and in the future students may enjoy the many rhythms found in everyday life, from sporting events to weddings to reading
- To aid students to become tuneful: in hopes that they will all be comfortable singing happy birthday to a family member or friend, sing for and with others, and sing for their own enjoyment
- To expose all students to the art of music: to build an appreciation for the many types of music which exist in our world today and be able to find the depth and meaning in pieces from classical to traditional music from many cultures to rock and pop.
In each class we usually do some singing or playing of instruments, some dancing or moving, and some listening. Feel free to come by to observe and participate with the students of any of the classes - we'd love to show you what we're up to!
